Marlene J. Lowther

       Marlene J. Lowther, 70, of Marietta passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at her home.
       She was born on September 9, 1938, in Marietta a daughter of Harry T. and Beulah C. McIntosh Neville.  Marlene was a member of VFW Auxiliary and a homemaker.
       On August 14, 1971, she married Ramey H. Lowther who preceded her in death on November 16, 2007.  Marlene is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters:  Kevin Lowther and special friend of the family Susie Mullenix of Marietta, Cristina Shalaty of Cleveland, Tonya (Brian) Britton of Marietta, 3 grandchildren:  Danielle, Kyle, Kristie, great grandson Hunter, brother Roger Neville, sister Maxine Mackey, and son-in-law and her care giver Brian K. Britton.
       In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister.

Joseph D. Clatterbuck

       Joseph D. Clatterbuck, 74, of Marietta, passed away at 11:00 pm on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at his home.
       He was born on February 10, 1935, in Browntown, VA, a son of David and Relda Henry Clatterbuck.  Joe had worked for 45 years at Dravo Corporation, was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Korea, and was a member of the National Guard for 37 years.
       Joe is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter:  Steven (Jamey) Erb, Christian Erb, Jackie (Kenneth) Epps all of Marietta, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
       He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Steven Clatterbuck and 2 brothers and 1 sister.
       Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Morton officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Sunday at 2:00 pm with family present on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8. Gregory D. Williams

       Gregory D. Williams, 47, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at 8:08 pm at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
       He was born on August 23, 1962, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Leo Williams and Sandra (Burke) Norwood of Canton, Ohio.
       Gregory was a family man who loved spending time with his beautiful family and friends.  He always welcomed his family and friends with a meal and a helping hand.  He was our family’s handyman.  His love for his family was only preceded by the caring of family and friends.
       He is survived by his wife Rosetta (Miller) Williams and 3 sons and 2 daughters:  Gregory Williams, Justin Williams, Nathan Williams, Sheri “Fats” Williams, Chante’ Rake all of Marietta; 3 grandchildren:  Braylon Williams, Jermaine and Aysia Burke.  Also surviving are 4 brothers and 2 sisters:  Leo, David, Blaine and Ronald Williams, Tracey Risby and Cammy Davis, mother-in-law, Leota Miller, step father Bishop Norwood, grandmother Emma Burwell, 2 special uncles, Steven Burke and Richard Williams, many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.  We are a very close-knit family.
       He was preceded in death by his father, sister Sheri Williams and very close friend and sister-in-law Rhonda Miller.
       The family wishes to give a special thanks to all neighbors and friends for their support.
       Funeral services will be held on Monday (August 31) at 1:30 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon E. Laura Phillips

       Laura Phillips, 65, of Ferncliff (Marietta) passed away at her home on Sunday, August 16, 2009.
       She was born on March 17, 1944, in Marietta, a daughter of Clyde and Sarah Boyce.
       Laura was a graduate of Marietta High School.  In April 2007, she retired from RJF International after 34 years of service.
       She is survived by her son, Ross Phillips and fiancé Ruth Cozzens, grandchildren, Ross and Holly Phillips, great grandchild, Aiden, 3 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, sisters, Sue (Jim) Wagner and Bonnie Schaad, brother Mike Boyce, 6 nieces, 6 nephews and her beloved dog Teddy.
       In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Tammy Phillips, brother Frank Boyce and sister Patricia Clark.

Donald D. Rumbold

            Donald D. Rumbold, 68, of Marietta, went to be with our Lord at 4:00 am on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Marietta Center.
            He was born in Marietta on March 2, 1941, a son of Herman Rumbold and Elsie Lightfritz Founds.  Don retired from Kardex in 1998 after 18 years.  He was a member of Riverside Church of Christ. He was a devoted fan of OSU football and loved classic cars and collected anything to do with them and visiting with family and friends.
            He is survived in death by wife, Shirley Clark Rumbold with one daughter, Sandra Rumbold of Newport. 3 grandchildren:  Traci, Samantha and Allison Welch, great granddaughter, Kilynn Williams, brother Robert Rumbold of Kent, sisters:  Delores (Tom) Nishimuta and Mary Charlene (John) Whitten both of Oklahoma, and many nieces, nephews and cousins
            He was preceded in death by his  parents and brother Delmar Rumbold.

Mary Katherine Anderson

       Mary Katherine Anderson, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband Gene Anderson on August 20, 2009, at Camden Clark Hospital. She was born on June 15, 1927 to Harry and Glossie Triplet of Chesterhill, Ohio.
       She and Gene Anderson were married April 22, 1950, and together they operated Anderson's Store in Barlow, Ohio.
       She is survived by daughters: Marlene Hysell of Barlow, Kathy (Mark) Ferguson of Charlotte, NC, sons: Kevin (Kathy) of Barlow, Kris (Misty) of Barlow, daughter-in-law Debbie Anderson of Belpre; grandchildren: Angie (Jared) Evans of Washington, WV, Michelle (Vince) Turner of Greer SC, Andrew Offenberger of Belpre, Nick Anderson of Reno, Ashley Hysell of Barlow, Missy (Shane) Zoller of Fleming, Nathaniel Anderson of Belpre, Shane Anderson of Belpre, Ryin Anderson of Barlow and Taylor Anderson of Barlow; great-grandchildren: Madison Evans of Washington WV, Gabriel Turner of Greer SC, Rylee Evans of Washington WV, Ben Turner of Greer SC, Jackson Evans of Washington WV.
       She is also survived by brother Bernard (Mary) Triplet of Chesterhill, and sister Zola Echard of Newark, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
       Proceeded in death by her parents, her in-laws Raymond and Gladys Anderson, son Mark Anderson and grandson Zachary Anderson, siblings:  Myrkle Triplet, Carroll Triplet, and Pauline Ward, and nephew Stanley Triplet.
       She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always wanted to spend time with them when she could.
       Services will be held on Monday (August 24) at 10:30 at McClure-Schafer- Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend David Dye of The Bridge Baptist Church of Little Hocking officiating.  Burial will be in Barlow Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning on Saturday at 5:00 pm until the hour of the service.  Donations may be made in her honor to the Barlow Volunteer Fire department.  On line condolences can be shared with the family at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.

Darlene Oliver

          Darlene Oliver, 65, of Marietta passed away 12:15 pm, August 18, 2009 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
          She was born August 27, 1943 in Marietta to Donald and Ellajane Monaghan Patterson.  Darlene graduated from Marietta High School in 1962.
          On February 14, 1970 she married Charles Oliver who survives with a daughter Melissa Oliver of Williamstown, and sons Charles Oliver of Marietta, and Patrick Oliver of Williamstown.  Also surviving are grandchildren Meaghan, Keegan, Andrea, Lauren and Lynaea.
          In addition to her parents, a brother Donald Patterson, Jr preceded her in death.

Shane A. Britton

       Shane A. Britton, 37, of New Matamoras, passed away 1:20 am Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Selby General Hospital.
       He was born February 24, 1972 in Parkersburg, WV to Arnold A. and Geraldine Marshall Britton.
       In 1989 Shane married Tina Britton who survives with children Shane Britton II, Rocquel Britton, Shawn Britton, Jay Britton and Kyle Britton all of New Matamoras. In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters Darlene Britton and Felicia Smith both of Marietta and a brother Aaron (Rosie) Britton of Parkersburg.

Tony D. Venham

       Tony Douglas Venham, 52, of Belpre, passed away at 9:30am on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
       He was born on June 7, 1957, in Marietta a son of Terry Douglas and Helen Dowler Venham.  He was baptized in the Church of Christ.  Tony was a graduate of Warren High School, Class of 1976.
       He is survived by his mother, Helen Venham of Marietta, 2 brothers:  Toby Venham of Belpre and Stoney Venham of Marietta, step daughter Goldie Butler, step granddaughter Taylor Butler and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Flossie Louise Clark Sparks

       Flossie Louise Clark Sparks, 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, in Monroe, North Carolina. 
       She was born on March 12, 1920, in Noble County, Ohio, a daughter of Herman Vinton and Anna Olive Dearth Clark.  She was a sales clerk in Marietta for 20 years and a member of the Reno Memorial Christian Church.
       On September 10, 1938, she married Herbert M. Sparks who died on January 23, 1982.
Flossie is survived by 5 daughters and 1 son:  Virginia (Donald) Stengel of Lowell, Carole (Ben) Marsee, Kay (Gary) Blair of Marietta, Konny (Art) Crampton of Pataskala, Sharon (Vic) Smith with who she made her home in Waxhaw, NC and David (Kathy) Sparks of Jackson, 18 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, sister-in-law Hope Addlesburger, special niece Shirley Mooney, and several nieces and nephews.
       In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Dale Sparks.

Wilma Noland

      Wilma Noland, 71, of Stockport, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at The Arbors of Marietta.
      She was born on March 2, 1938, in Marietta a daughter of Howard and Gladys Matheny McKnight.  Wilma was a graduate of Marietta High School and was employed by Kresge’s Store for 18 years.
      In 1972, she married Clayton Noland who survived with stepsons, Rick (Vivian) Noland and Scott (Sherry) Noland both of Stockport and son, Mike (Pat Schoeppner) Noland of Reno; grandchildren:  Stephanie (Mike) Sidenstricker, Carrie Hannan, Jessie (Shaunte) Noland, Marilyn (Bill) Callahan, David Noland, Kayla Cleveland; great grandchildren:  Lana, Lexie, and Lynsie Sidenstricker, Ayanna and Maxwell Noland, Dawson and Wyatt Hannan, Madysen, Clayton and Chloe Callahan. She is also survived by 2 sisters:  Joann Murray of Marietta and Katie (Dave) Wishart of Lakeland, FL, and brother Ralph (Lois) McKnight of Reno and several nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Helen Covey, Juanita Bower and Doris Duffy.

Georgia Fern Hearn

      Georgia Fern Hearn, 83, of New Matamoras, passed away at 12:10 pm on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
      She was born on August 2, 1926, to Elmer Hearn and Annie Binegar Hearn.  She took over and ran the family farm after her father passed away and spent all her life on that farm until retiring.  Georgia graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1944.  She was a member of Little Muskingum Valley Baptist Church.
      Georgia is survived by 2 sisters, Josephine Hesson of Loudonville and Mary Davis of Marietta, her nephew James Davis and wife Darlene of New Matamoras, niece: Rosemary Davis of Marietta and Carol Ann Mapes and husband Robert of Loudonville.
       She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers-in-law, Virgil Hesson and Don Davis.
      Funeral services will be held on Thursday (August 13th) at 1:30 pm at Muskingum Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Shawver officiating.  Burial will be in Muskingum Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home after 2:00pm on Wednesday and one hour before the service at the church.  Family will be present at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 on Wednesday.  Memorial donations are requested to: Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department, 15015 St. Rt. 26, Marietta.  On line condolences may be shared with the family at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.

Golden O. “Jack” Plumley 

      Golden O. “Jack” Plumley, 79, of Racine, WV, formally of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Charleston Medical Center. 
      He was born on June 15, 1930, in Walton, WV.  Jack had served in the U. S. Army in Germany and had worked for Union Carbide.
      On December 24, 1952, he married Ursula Schultz who preceded him in death on June 5, 1998.  He married Ada Shamblin on July 21, 1999, and she survives with 4 step children, 7 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister, Jerry, in California, an aunt Tressie McIntire and special friend Regina in Germany.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Zaucha.

Gloria J. Scarbro

       Gloria J. Scarbro, 82, of Oak Grove, passed away at her home at 7:16 am on Sunday, August 02, 2009.
       She was born on December 20 1926, in Marietta, a daughter of Herman and Hazel Minnear Carpenter.  Gloria graduated from Marietta High School in 1944 and from Washington State Community College in 1974 with an LPN degree and had been employed at Marietta Memorial Hospital for 18 years.  She attended Gilman Avenue United Methodist Church.
       On November 29, 1945, she married Brady Ayward Scarbro, Jr., who preceded her in death on February 10, 1988.
       Gloria is survived by her 3 children:  Lynne (Jim) Zoller, Lana McKitrick, and Steve (Hilarie) Scarbro; grandchildren:  Heather Zoller Gritz, Jennifer Farmer, Josh McKitrick, Ryan McKitrick, Dion Scarbro, Todd Scarbro, Christopher Scarbro, Emilie Scarbro, Scott Miller; 13 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Camma Gaskins and Maysel McCloud of Marietta; aunt Betty Kennedy of Wheeling and good friend Greg Kroft.
       Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (August 4) at 11:00am at Gilman United Methodist Church with Reverend Diann O’Bryant officiating.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 pm and at the church one hour before the service.  Memorial contributions in Gloria’s memory may be made to the After School Program at Gilman Avenue United Methodist Church.  On line condolences may be shared at:  mslfuneralhome.com.
