Robert M. Blair, Jr.
Robert M. Blair, Jr. 58, of Marietta passed away at 2:30 am on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Selby General Hospital.
He was born on June 6, 1951, in Marietta a son of Robert and Betty Bizantz Blair. He had been employed at Anchor Glass as a Foreman, served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was a member of Marietta Moose Lodge #1823. He was an avid OSU Buckeye fan.
On December 11, 1971, he married Pamela Ruble who survives with 2 sons: Chad E. Blair and Brad A. Blair and granddaughter Jenna Blair all of Marietta, 3 brothers: John (JoAnn) Blair, Gary (Kay) Blair, Ronald (Sharon) Blair and 4 stepbrothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (February 1st) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Heller officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Saturday at 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.
Kelsey E. Porter
Kelsey E. Porter, 86, of Lower Salem, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 12:45 am at The Arbors.
He was born on August 27, 1923, in Washington County, Ohio. Kelsey had been employed by the State of Ohio Highway Department. He was a member of Lower Salem United Methodist Church, was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army and was a member of American Legion Post 64.
He married Wanda Pryor who survives with one stepdaughter Jill (Tracy) Shea of Columbus, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (January 28th) at 10:30 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Lou Verdi officiating. Burial will be in Salem Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Thursday morning at 8:00 am until the hour of the service.

Goldie Reynolds
Goldie Reynolds, 80, of Vincent passed away at 10:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Harmar Place.
She was born on February 8, 1929, in Ritchie County, WV, to Porter and Phoebe Buzzard Stull. Goldie had been employed at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the 19th Street Church of God in Parkersburg.
She was married to Earl Reynolds who survives with 1 stepson and 3 stepdaughters: Joseph Reynolds of Vincent, Grace Nelson of Parkersburg, Lucille Mennick of Arizona and Kathleen Lyons of Louisiana, 8 step grandchildren, and 6 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by stepdaughter Wilma Science Jackson and was the last surviving member of her family that included 7 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (January 27th) at 2:00 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Randell Fuson officiating. Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Tuesday afternoon with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
Marlene Ann Casteel
Marlene Ann Casteel, 68, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at 4:30 am at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Marietta on January 18, 1942, to William and Anna Cecilia Klinger Burkhart. Marlene was a department head for 13 years at Rinks Dept. Store, resided in Cranston, RI for 18 years and worked at Woolworth’s Dime Store, then retired as a department head from Office Max.
She is survived by her stepmother Eloise Burkhart, 1 son and 1 daughter: William Myer (Angie) Casteel and his children Kyla, Stephanie and Billy and Kelly Casteel (Hank) Steward and her children Nina and Tim “TJ” Patterson all of Marietta. She is also survived by step grandchildren: Timothy, Lindsay, Skylar and Alaina and 4 step great grandchildren. Brother, Michael (Susan) Burkhart of Marietta, and sisters Mary (Bob) Brandon of Kent, Joyce Ellis of Lake City, FL and Carolyn (Tony) Roberto of Summerfield, FL, and sister-in-law Judy Burkhart of Marietta also survive.
In addition to her parents a brother, Richard Burkhart, preceded Marlene in death.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (January 29th) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Heller officiating. Burial will be in Putnam Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 2pm with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
Harold Glen Warden
Harold Glen Warden, 92, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday (January 24, 2010) at Heartland of Marietta.
He was born September 3, 1917 at Marietta, OH, to Herbert and Pearl Miller Warden. He spent his life in Marietta and was a 1937 graduate of Marietta High School. He had been employed by and was proprietor of the New System Bakery until his retirement in 1982. He had been a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church and the Adult Fellowship class. He had been active in Cub Scouts. He married Mary Louise Skipton on October 5, 1940.
He is survived by three sisters, Mildred Schario, Elizabeth Warden both of Marietta and Winifred Flowers of Williamstown, WV; one brother, Robert Warden of Marietta; one son, Paul Stephen Warden of Mission, Texas; one daughter, Beverly Ann Warden and her partner Carol Ann Paquette of Durham, North Carolina; two grandsons. Christopher Warden and his wife, DeAnna of Michigan and Michael Paquette of Dumfries, VA, and one granddaughter, Cynthia Swisher and her husband, Jamie, of Michigan. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Rachael, Alex, and Cameron of Michigan and Elizabeth of Buxton, Maine as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Warden on December 29, 2009; his parents; two sisters Marie Offenberger and Catherine Warden; five brothers, Wilbur, Paul, Ralph, Corbett, and Lowell Warden; and a daughter-in-law, Gilda Schenkel Warden.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (January 27th) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend David Bilyeu officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Tuesday.
Justin Michael Gossett
Justin Michael Gossett, 28, of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, in Largo, Florida.
He was born on August 10, 1981, in Marietta a son of Joel Steven Gossett and Teresa Martin Burris. He attended Celebration Center in Marietta.
Justin is survived by his father Joel Gossett of Largo, FL and his mother and father, Teresa and Roger Burris of Marietta, 2 sons: Issiah and Kalen Gossett, goddaughter Peyton Gossett, sister Kristie Harper of Marietta and her 2 children, Dezere` and Ondre`.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (January 18th) at 2:00 pm at The Celebration Center in Marietta with Gordie Deer officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon beginning at 5:00 with family present from 5-9 and on Monday at the Church 1 hour prior to the service.
Marjorie A. Bee
Marjorie A. Bee, 84, of Marietta, passed away at 9:25 am on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Harmar Place.
She was born on March 3, 1925, in Marietta a daughter of Roman Francis and Anna C. Thoma Singer. Marjorie was owner and operator of The Colony Theater, including the Greyhound Bus Terminal and Western Union Wire Service. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Women’s League of Salvation Army. She was a graduate of St. Mary Central High School.
Marjorie is survived by 2 sons: William F. (Mary) Bee and Michael J. (Brenda) Bee both of Marietta, and grandson Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Earl Bee and granddaughter Jennifer J. Bee.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (January 18th) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Father Mike Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Tunnel Cemetery. Visiting will begin on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.

Glen E. Miller
Glen E. Miller, 83, of Reno passed away at his home on January 11, 2010.
He was born May 26, 1926 in Marietta to Clifford and Lucille Payne Miller. Glen was a 1944 graduate of Marietta High School and veteran of WW II having served in the US Army. He had been employed at Uncle Bill’s Pharmacy, the Food Locker and Crescent Supply serving as a warehouse clerk until his retirement. Glen was also a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Marietta.
On November 1, 1946 he married Carolyn Miller who passed away December 21, 2000.
Surviving are his daughter Susan (Jeff) Watkins of Magnolia, Ohio and his grandson Matthew (Jessica) Watkins of Canton. Brothers Gilbert (Wanda) Miller, Harold (Joyce) Miller and sister Helen (James) Grace all of Marietta also survive him.
In addition to his parents and wife Glen was preceded in death by a brother Gale Miller.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday, January 15th at the First Baptist Church in Marietta with Reverend David Bilyeu officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at 4 pm Thursday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home and 1 hour before the service at the church. The family will be present to greet friends from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Beatrice “Betty” Kathleen Smith
Beatrice “Betty” Kathleen Smith, 87, of Waverly, passed away January 11, 2010 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
On May 28, 1922 she was born in Waverly to Edward R. and Ruby M. Lehew. She was a graduate of Williamstown High School. Betty had been employed at the Bureau of Public Debt as a supervisor before serving as the Postmaster of the Waverly Post Office for 17 years, until the time of her retirement. Betty was an avid bird watcher and loved to read and travel.
Betty married Berkeley Lincoln Smith on September 21, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1979.
Surviving are her children Sharon Adams and Michael Smith both of Waverly. A brother Edward R. (Shirley) Lehew, Jr. and sister-in-law Helen Lehew also survive.
In addition to her parents, and husband, a brother Virgil Lehew and infant sisters Mary Ellen Lehew and Shirley Irene Lehew preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday January 15th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Calebaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 pm Thursday until the hour of service. The family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 to greet friends.
Eloise Anderson
Eloise Anderson, 75, of Riverview Road, Marietta, passed away January 11, 2010.
She and her husband, Lester Anderson, were long time members of the Marietta College community where Eloise served periodically as an instructor of mathematics and later as Director of Administrative Computer Systems while playing an integral part in her husband’s career. For several years she managed the computer services of L and M Oil Company. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Marietta, where she played many years in the handbell choir.
She was born on December 16, 1934 in Parkersburg to Raymond Otho Johnson and Violet Irene Shriver Johnson. Eloise was a 1952 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 1956 graduate of Marietta College. From 1956 to 1961 she served as an instructor of mathematics at Pennsylvania State University while working on a Masters degree in mathematics. Eloise also attended Iowa State University from 1969 to 1970 studying computer science.
On June 17, 1956 she married Lester Anderson who survives. Their children and grandchildren are Lydia (Greg) Hunter of Marietta and their children Nadine (Jonathan) Els and Stephen; Elliott (Karen) Anderson of Michigan and their three children; Wayne (Shannyn) Anderson of Marietta and their children Stuart, Bryget and Meghan; and Laura (David) Pierpont of Florida. A sister Janice Hammack of Lakeland, FL, brother Wayman Johnson of Parkersburg and brother-in-law Larry Friend also survive. Her sister Karen Friend preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, January 16th at Christ United Methodist Church in Marietta with Reverend Doug Stockton officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 pm Friday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Nellie Davis
Nellie Davis, 86, former resident of Marietta passed away at 9:15 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Ivy Wood Manor in North Lima, Ohio.
She was born on August 20, 1923, in Parkersburg, WV, to Clarence and Lily Mae Athey Sims. She was a homemaker and a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4508 where she held many local and state offices. She was also a life member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5108 and a member of the Church of Christ.
Nellie was married to Larry D. Davis who preceded her in death on February 27, 2000. Surviving are one son, Ray (Erma) Davis of Poland, OH, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren, brother Fred Sims of Fleming, sister Lily Mae Sims Lent of Marietta and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carol Marlene Hasley, and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (January 12th) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 on Monday afternoon.
Pearl Lockhart
Pearl Lockhart, 84, of Belpre, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010, at 4:17 pm at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 12, 1925, in Wirt County, WV to Luella Virginia Romine Lockhart. He had worked at B. F. Goodrich in scheduling, was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII, enjoyed Bantam League and Girls Softball and had worked for Easter Seals. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church and VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by 2 sons and 5 daughters: Jack G. Lockhart of Washington Court House, Rodney J. Lockhart of Caldwell, Virginia L. Lockhart and Kathryn L. Munoz both of Marietta, Nancy L. Young of Alberton, MT, Evelyn M. Seevers of Hawthorne, FL, Jamie Hess of Marietta former wife Effie L. Blair of Marietta, 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Reva Biehl of Beverly and Laura Haynes of Akron and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, great granddaughter, 3 brothers: Ralph, Rega, Ronnie Lockhart, 5 sisters: Bertha Buckalew, Ruby Bailey, Ruth Lockhart, Beulah Wiley, Rena Dale Lockhart.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday (January 6th) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Richard Saltzwedel officiating. Burial in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2:00pm on Tuesday.
Mildred Louise Coplin
Mildred Louise Coplin, of Porter Street, Marietta, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Harmar Place in the 90th year of her life.
She was born on December 8, 1919, in Marietta to Burt and Druzella Chalfant Crimmel. She was a telephone operator and homemaker. She was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church and the Marietta Beagle Club.
On March 21, 1941, she married Rondal Coplin who preceded her in death on March 18, 2007. Mildred is survived by one daughter: Ronda (Curtis) McGregor; 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter: Curtis Scott McGregor, Eric Nathan McGregor, Amanda Jo McKinney; great grandchildren: Tyler, Hunter and Reed McKinney and Brody McGregor; one brother Larry Burt (Mary Ellen) Crimmel of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Scott Coplin a casualty of Vietnam, brother John Crimmel and sister Eileen Storms.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (January 6th) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday after 5:00 pm.
James W. “Jim” Miller
James W. “Jim” Miller, 71, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Marietta, died on Friday, January 1, 2010, at 1:26pm following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 2, 1938, in Marietta to William E. and Lucille J. Eddy Miller. He was a certified electrician from which he retired. Jim was a member of Eagles #458 and the Moose Lodge of Marietta. He enjoyed boating, doing crosswords and spending time with his friends at the Harmar and Norwood.
He is survived by his son Nick (Tammy) Miller of Anchorage, Alaska and his mother Mary Wells of Williamstown, 3 sisters: Charlotte (Wayne) Martin, Susann Harris both of Marietta and Mary (Kester) Miller of Whipple;2 brothers: Edward (Judy) Miller and Johnny (Penny) Miller of Marietta, brother-in-law Clyde Hill of Marietta, 4 grandchildren: Mandy, James, Hope and Samantha all of Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Naomi “Kitty” Hill.

Barbara L. Conant
Barbara L. Conant, 43, of Marietta, passed away at 6:35 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 1, 2010) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1966, in Marietta, to the late Dale M. Moore and Marjorie Oliver Moore of Marietta. She had been employed at The Inn at Marietta and was a member of Pinehurst Christian Church.
On Oct. 24, 1984, she married Michael Conant who survives with one son and one daughter, Michael (Laura) Conant and their son, Ethan M. Conant, and Alicia Marie Conant, all of Marietta; brother, Chester Farnsworth of Marietta; and sister, Delta Mae Dye of Bartow, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Pinehurst Christian Church with Dennis Frary officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Clarence Beegle
Clarence Beegle, 66, of New Matamoras, died Friday (Jan. 1, 2010) at his home.
At his request his body will be cremated and there will be no services. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
