Robert and Evalena Barth

             Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Bob) Barth, of Reno went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2010.
             Evalena Marie Allen Barth was born on March 29, 1944 to the late Lester and Florence Erb Allen. She had worked at B.F. Goodrich and then became a homemaker. She was a member of the Hills United Methodist Church and President of the Hills United Methodist Women's Society. She also was a 4-H advisor and a leader of the Girl Scouts, was a past president of the Farm Bureau and currently a member of the Farm Bureau. She played the “gorilla” for Aletha’s florist and enjoyed going to yard sales, auctions, and Rinks Flea Market and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed watching her son and grandson race their dirt bikes.
             Robert Ray Barth was born on August 3, 1941 to the late Harold and Edith Hutchinson Barth. He had worked at Elston Lumber Company and Silvesco before returning to help his brother continue the family farm (Barth Farms). He was a Member of the Hills United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, 2 Cylinder Club, Washington County Soil and Water Conservation, and Black and White Holstein Club. He enjoyed dairy farming, collecting toy tractors and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed the milk hauling business that he and his brother had.  He also enjoyed watching his  son and grandson race their dirt bikes.
             Robert and Evalena were married on August 12, 1961, and are survived by two children, Tina (Eric) Dunn of Marietta, Troy (Tamela ) Barth of Marietta and three grandchildren: Tristan (Terry) Wonycott of Columbus, Wyatt Barth of Marietta, and Randen Reese of Manteo, NC.  They are also survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.  Evalena is survived by one sister Sundena Handschumaker,  four brothers: Rocky, Barry, Bill and Sonny Allen and one uncle Emmett Moore. Robert is survived by one brother Gerald Barth.
             In addition to their parents, Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, the late Walter and Rose Hutchinson, and the late Frank and Hattie Herlan Barth several aunts and uncles. Evalena was preceded in death by her grandparents Phillip L. and Lena Ica Holiday and her step grandmother Freda B. Jones Moore Erb, Henry and Lenora Beech Allen, also several aunts and uncles.
            Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (March 30th) at 1:00 p m at Valley View Baptist Church in Reno with Pastor Gale Lauderman and Jeff Walker officiating.  Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.   Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home beginning Monday morning at 9:00 and on Tuesday at the church at 12:00.

H. James “Jimmy” Young

           Jim Young of Williamstown passed away on March 22, 2010.  He is survived by his wife Vivian Cryderman Young of Williamstown, children:  Diane (Roy) Montgomery of Henderson, KY, Marcia (Tom) Mitchell of Colorado and the Sault; Gail (Michael) Falk of Jenison, MI, Terry (Barbara) Young of London, England and Lori Jo (Jon) McVay of Anchorage, AL, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his brother Charles (Buddy) Young of California.
          He was preceded in death by his parents William and Beatrice (Killips) Young and his brothers William Young and Jack Young,
          A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held in Sault Ste, Marie, MI.  The family asks that remembrances be made in Jim’s name to the Leukemia Foundation.

Thomas W. Potter

          Thomas W. Potter, 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Harmar Place.
          He is survived by 4 children:  Mark (Tracy) Potter of West Jefferson, OH, Marcia (Bill) Holschuh of Lowell, Jan Powell of Marietta, Scott (Jill) Potter of Worthington, OH; 10 grandchildren:  Scott Melin, April DeLeon, Brooke Decker, Ashley Tucker, Steven Powell, Ben Holschuh, Carly Decker, Bryan Potter, Kristin Potter and Chase Potter and 7 great grandchildren.
          The family wishes to express appreciation to special caregivers Kim Benton, Robin Carter and Susie Kelly and special thanks to the staff of Harmar Place for the love and kindness they provided.
          An open house celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 1 until 4 pm at Blacklick Golf Course Club House, 7309 Livingston Avenue, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements

Helen A. Mellor

       Helen A. Mellor, 88 of Wooster Street passed away 12: 15 pm Monday March 22, 2010.
       She was born December 19, 1921 to Albert Sam Amlin and Anna Marie Eng Galbreath.  Helen was a 1940 graduate of Marietta High School and a member of 6th & Washington Street Church of Christ.    She was a founding member of the Stepping Stones at Ohio Valley University and had served as a missionary to Guyana, South American, Jamaica, Cuba and Belize.  Helen enjoyed volunteering her time in helping others, both at the O’Neil Center and for over 26 years at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
       On July 12, 1941, Helen married Glen William Mellor who preceded her in death on August 4, 1995.
       Surviving are her daughter Marilyn Mellor and son David (Susan) Mellor.  Also surviving are grandchildren: Patty Rhothberg, Nathan Mellor, Matthew Mellor and Billy Jo Spencer along with several great grand children.  4 Sisters also survive.
       In addition to her parents and husband, a son, William Mellor preceded her in death.
       Graveside services will be held 2:30 pm Tuesday, March 23rd at the Mausoleum in East Lawn Memorial Park with Roger Rush officiating. 

Burel L. Wright

       Burel L. Wright, 79, of Marietta, passed away at 6:34 am on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
       He was born on May 9, 1930, in Wood County, West Virginia, a son of Oscil and Ammie Williams Wright.  Burel was retired from Stowe’s Truck & Equipment after 37 years.  He was a veteran of USAF serving 4 years, attended Wood County Schools and was a member of Putnam Congregational Church.  He enjoyed bass fishing, camping and gardening and being with his family and friends.
       On August 12, 1956, he married Shirley Bradley who survives with 4 sisters:  Geneva Ott, Betty Full, Patty Burdette and Shirley Stilgenbauer and several nieces and nephews.
       He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jay Jeffrey Wright, and 3 brothers:  Don, Glen and Bill Wright.
       Funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 18th) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor David Jackson officiating.  Burial will be in Putnam Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
       Memorial contributions may be sent to Putnam Congregation Church Furnace Fund or Devola Volunteer Fire Department.

Margery N. Moore

       Margery N. Moore, 76, of Marietta, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 10:10 am at Harmar Place.
       She was born on July 17, 1933, in Marietta, Ohio, a daughter of Clay Oliver and Alice Wagner Oliver.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family.
       She married Dale Moore who preceded her in death on November 20, 1995.
       Margery is survived by her 3 children, Chester Farnsworth of Marietta, Carolyn Baker, Delta (Jim) Dye of Bartow, FL, son-in-law Mike Conant of Marietta, grandchildren:  Rodney Farnsworth, Angie Haught, Chris Caldwell, Patrick Farnsworth, Jimmy Dye, Amy Howard, Michael Conant, Jr., Alicia Conant and 12 great grandchildren.
       In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Conant and 5 sisters and brothers.
       Funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 18th) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Dennis Frary officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon with family present from 2-4 and 6-8. 

Oma Richards

       Oma S. Richards, 63, of Marietta, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 4:20 am at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
       She was born on March 3, 1947, in Marietta, a daughter of Elton Woodrow and Rachael Irene Morrow Parker.   She was a graduate of Marietta High School.
Oma is survived by 1 daughter and 2 sons:  Sheila (Brian) Reynolds of Marietta, Paul (Delores) Richards of Reedsville, and Alan Richards of Marietta, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 5 sisters:  Janet Boyce, Sue Dugan, Sis Elder, Charlene Hill and Thelma Mae Baker.
       She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and daughter.
       Funeral services will be held on Monday (March 15th) at 1:30 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Floyd Dunn officiating.  Burial will be in Burnt Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 2:00

Judith Ann Osborne

      Judith Ann Bleakley Osborne, 62, of Marietta, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
      She was born on December 22, 1947, in Marietta a daughter of Gerald and Fay Medley Bleakley.  Judy was an instructor for Mid-Ohio Valley Truck Driving School and a driver for Gasel Transportation.  She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church, VFW Post 5108 Ladies Auxiliary, and Red Hat Society.
      Judy is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter:  Aaron (Donna) Camino of Coolville, Christopher (Shannon) Camino of Reno, Kari Webster Mullan  (Jim) of Queensbury, NY; 9 grandchildren:  Vance Camino, Travis Murrey, Laken Camino, Nick Camino, Kristian Mullan, Tyler Mullan, Kyle Mullan, Kaylann McCartney and Myranda McCartney.  Also surviving are her brother James Bleakley, sister Jane (Dan) Lankford, stepbrother Ivan Dutton, stepsister Judy Seevers and dear friend Doris Snider.
      She was preceded in death by: her parents, daughter, Misha Jane Day, grandson Devon McCartney and stepfather Clyde Dutton.
      Funeral services will be held on Monday (March 15th) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 4 until 8 and on Sunday from 12:00 until 8:00.

Helen M. Fulton

      Helen M. Fulton, 83, of Macksburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
      She was born on December 1, 1926, in Marietta, a daughter of Ruth Christian Spindler.  She was a homemaker.
      On June 21, 1947, she married Glen M. Fulton who proceded her in death on December 19, 2008.  Helen is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters:  Gary (Lynn) Fulton of Billings, Montana, Roy (Sherie)  Fulton of Reno, Sherry Fulton and Donna Loar of Macksburg.  She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son Ricky Fulton.
      Funeral services will be held on Friday (March 12th) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Mahaffey officiating.  Burial will be in Salem Township Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Thursday with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.     

Mary Farley

      Mary Margaret Sullivan Farley, 84, of Marietta passed away at her home on Monday, March 8, 2010, at 12:15 pm.
      She was born on January 30, 1926, in Marietta to Charles and Lilliam McNutt Sullivan.  She was a homemaker and a life member of the Lady’s Eagles.
      She is survived by her former husband Tom Perdew, 2 sons and 2 daughters, Steven Farley, Scott (Cathy) Farley, Cheryl (Tim Miller) Sauls, Lynette Archer, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and 2 special nieces, Pamela Doak and Sally (Joe) Matthews. 
      She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband George Farley, great granddaughter Tara Buchannon, 2 brothers Richard Sullivan and William Sullivan.
      Graveside services will be held on Wednesday (March 10th) at 2:00 at Oak Grove Cemetery.  There will be no viewing.   Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Mid-Ohio Valley. 

Ned O. Parlin

      Ned O. Parlin, 80, of Marietta passed away 2:35 am, Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Marietta Center.
      He was born on October 31, 1929 in Marietta to Floyd Mitchell and Fay Keney Parlin. Ned was a 1947 graduate of Marietta High School.  After graduation Ned joined the US Air Force, where he served 4 years with his twin brother Ted as a Sr. Aircraft Mechanic.  Desiring to return home, he declined officer training and went to work at Union Carbide.  In 1960 he earned an Associate’s degree from Marietta College.  In 1985 he retired from Elkem Metals (formerly Union Carbide) after 33 years of service.  He was a member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ.  Ned was also a member of American Legion Post 64 and the Marietta Boat Club for many years. 
      Ned loved his family, was a good provider, and helped others in many ways from repairing their lawn mowers to mowing their yards.  He also enjoyed sharing Marietta history with everyone, driving his truck “Old Blue” with his faithful dog Randy by his side, and working in the yard; he was especially proud of his 75 year old Night Blooming Cereus he got from his mother.  Hanging the American flag in the morning and taking it down in the evening was a daily ritual.
      On May 16, 1949 he married Barbara Faye Delong who preceded him death October 24, 2001.
Surviving are daughters: Elizabeth (John) Storms of Apex, NC, Leslie (Robert) Reynolds, of Vincent, Peggy (Rick) McAtee , of Marietta and Nedra (Rex) Pottmeyer of Marietta and son, Steve (Melissa) Parlin of Marietta.  Also surviving are grandchildren Jenni Goddard, Rob Reynolds, Tobey Burroughs, Yvonne Gilders, Derick Reynolds, Rick Jr. and Travis McAtee, David and Stacy Pottmeyer and Sophia Parlin and 10 great grandchildren: Seth, Sara, James, Jacob, Caitlyn, Devanne, Kodi, Maggie, and Ryan.  Sisters Jeanne Wening of Marietta, Neta O’Connell and Jerry Wronker both of Florida and brother Lynn Parlin of Zanesville also survive.
      In addition to his parents and wife, sisters Sue Mitchell and Norma Johnson and brothers Robert, Floyd, and Ted preceded Ned in death.
      Funeral services will be held 2 pm Sunday, March 7th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Evangelists Terry Varner and J.D. Conley officiating.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 pm Saturday. Mickey G. McNeely

       Mickey G. McNeely, 67, of Marietta passed away at 10:15 am on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Marietta Center.
       He was born on October 2, 1942, in Logan County, WV, a son of Cecil Loran and Pickford Lester McNeely.  He worked at SW Resources.
       On May 22, 1995, he married Helen Nixon who survives with 3 stepsons, Mark (Linda) Lansing and Michael Marshall both of Marietta and Steven Marshall of Williamstown, 1 step granddaughter Mandy Marshall and 1 brother Rex McNeely of Cleveland.
       He was preceded in death by his parents, step granddaughter Amber Grace Marshall, mother-in-law Mary Jane Burns, stepson Everett Eugene Lansing, Jr.
       Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday (March 4th) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at Greenfield Cemetery at Greenfield, Ohio.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 pm on Wednesday until the hour of the service.
